Mrs. Stoub and I have had the chance to go to a class on science notebooking. We will get to attend the second part of the class this coming Monday.
Each child has their own science notebooks, where they get to wonder, think, claim, experiment, reflect, and much more.
As teachers, we are building their understanding of how scientist think and work through a question they have. It has been a lot of fun to see the kinds of ideas and thoughts that each child has. Science notebooking encourages participation by ALL.
This past week, the class went through an experiment we called, Will the Balloon Feel Different? Each child had to claim that a frozen balloon would feel the same or different as a water filled balloon. The students' predictions were fantastic! Their excitement, as each table group came up to fill their water balloon, was wonderful! The giggles, smiles, gasps, and amazement, as we pulled the balloons out of the freezer, were outstanding!
I am looking forward to what the students will discover during our next session of science notebooking.
Feel free to come into class sometime to check out the work your child is doing in the science notebooks!
